What is astrological herbalism?

All plants have an astrological correspondence, much like how humans do. This system of identifying the planetary & zodiacal correspondences of herbs & using astrology for wellbeing dates back to the foundations of astrology in ancient Babylonia.

This knowledge gives an understanding of the underlying energetic properties of plants & their effects on the physical, emotional, & spiritual level.Easy plants to identify astrologically are sunflowers & their correspondence with the Sun, or roses and their correspondence with Venus, goddess of love & beauty & romance.

The other component of astrological herbalism is using the birth chart of an individual to figure out what herbs they may need, to help match-make people to plants. It is also a system of mysticism that enables us to see underlying patterns & archetypes repeating in the natural world, the celestial world, & within ourselves.

History of the astrology of herbs & health

The astrological correspondences of herbs, & the concept that astrology corresponds with our health, dates back to the foundations of astrology in Mesopotamia in 2,000 BCE. Babylonian pharmacological texts include records of gods & goddesses/planets associated with plants. Remedies were made in accordance with celestial timing, & certain body parts already corresponded to certain planets.

Further historical roots include Hippocrates & Galen of Ancient Greece & their theories on celestial movements correlating with health, India’s use of astrology in Ayurvedic Medicine, 9th century Baghdad during the Golden Age of Islam, where renowned astrologer Abu Ma'shar wrote theories on the astrological nature of plants, minerals, & people & planetary influence on all life, & Renaissance England where Nicholas Culpepper wrote a book with astrological correspondences of plant & Renaissance Italy where Galileo taught the astrology of health at university.
